Guangzhou citizens come together every morning on Shamien Island to practice and learn ballroom dancing.
A farmer tends to his field in Self-Help Village, Kaiping, near Jiangmen, China. The Watchtowers of Jianggmen were built as a way for families to defend themselves against bandits. Many of the towers were built during the early part of the 20th Century with money sent back from family members who had gone off to America to make their fortunes. Prior to WW II there were more than 3,000 of these towers scattered around the Jiangmen area. Now, however, only 1,083 are still standing and many of those are now being considered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites which go a long way in helping preserve these structures.
